Webster Parish Special Education Advisory Council

Webster Parish Special Education Advisory Council

The Webster Parish Special Education Advisory Council (Webster SEAC) is an opportunity for parents, district staff, and community stakeholders to provide advice and feedback regarding special education policies, procedures, and resources. The members of Webster SEAC shall engage in outreach activities in the community to increase the level of knowledge, support, and collaboration in regard to special education. The council will consist of at least eight members, two shall be parents of children who receive special education services, one shall be a Webster Parish principal, teacher, or paraprofessional, and one shall be a special education stakeholder. Each member will be appointed for a one school year term and will act as an advisory council to the superintendent and/or the school board. The Webster SEAC will meet three times per school year.

R.S. 17:1944 requires local school systems to create a special education advisory council to provide advice and feedback regarding special education policies, procedures, and resources. The council shall also engage in outreach activities to the community at large to increase the level of knowledge, support, and collaboration with respect to special education.
