Broadband Survey and Emergency Broadband Benefit Program

Delta Broadband Mapping Project

The Delta Regional Authority announced the launch of the Delta Broadband Mapping Project, an initiative aimed at strengthening broadband infrastructure that supports distance learning, telehealth, and remote work.  The initiative encourages residents to participate in the free, anonymous, Delta Speed Test.  The gathered information will inform and support strategic investments in critical infrastructure that will expand the availability of high-quality internet access across the region.  The Delta Speed Test can be taken from any device that has an internet or cellular connection to your home network.  The test takes less than one minute to complete, and no personal information will be collected.  To participate, please use a device connected to your home internet service and not from a school network while completing the Survey .  The purpose is to provide broadband speeds and availability statistics from households throughout Webster Parish.  Individuals without internet access at home can travel to a location where internet service is provided to submit the address of a home with no available service.  We are encouraging all Webster Parish School Board employees and student households to participate in this mapping project.

To participate in the Delta Broadband Mapping Project please click here to complete the Survey.

If you have any issues or questions about completing the Survey a video tutorial is available here.

Emergency Broadband Benefit Program

On April 29, 2021, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBB Program) will launch on May 12, 2021. At this time, consumers can apply for the program through the National Verifier at .

What is the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program?

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. If your household is eligible, you can receive:

  • Up to a $50/month discount on your broadband service and associated equipment rentals
  • Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands
  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)

Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per household.  Please note that all broadband providers will NOT offer the Emergency Broadband Benefit.  The Companies Near Me Tool will be available closer to the program’s launch and you will want to use the tool to see options available in your area.

Since all Webster Parish Schools participate in the Community Eligibility Provision(CEP) program, households that have a student that is currently enrolled in a Webster Parish School should qualify for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program once it is launched.  We highly recommend that all households do what they can to acquire a high speed internet connection and take advantage of this new program if it is available in your area.
