Webster Parish School District Announcement - 01/29/2021

January 29, 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This letter is to inform you that due to an increased number of positive COVID-19 cases in both our student and staff populations, it is necessary to transition from in-person learning to 100% virtual learning at Minden High School for the following days:  Monday, February 1, 2021 through Friday, February 5, 2021.  If it is deemed safe to return to school, all students will return Monday, February 8, 2021. This decision was not made lightly and our number one priority is to keep our students and staff healthy and safe.

During this time, students are expected to log on to their Google Classroom and participate in instruction.  Your child’s teacher(s) will post all necessary information regarding class times, recorded videos, and instruction in his/her Google Classroom. Also, while the school is closed physically, there will be no athletic or extra-curricular activities of any kind.  This includes meetings, practices, games, etc.

If your student has already been sent home prior to today as a close contact or positive case, you should follow the original guidance sent to you regarding your child’s return to school.

Meals will be available through our “Grab and Go” system and will be served at the following sites for any Minden High School student: Jones (12:30-1:00 PM), Phillips (9:30-10:00 AM), Richardson (9:30-10:00 AM), or Webster (9:45-10:20 AM)   You will remain in your car and a school food service worker will hand you your child’s meal(s).  The “Grab and Go” service is for this week only.

We hope your family can stay safe and healthy during the days to come.  We strongly encourage you to follow current CDC guidelines and protocols during this time so that we can re-open school and continue with our school year in a safe manner. If during this time, you experience a positive COVID-19 case within your family or a pending COVID-19 test, please call the WPSB Hotline at 318-707-0132 and choose Option #2 and follow all prompts. We appreciate your support and encouragement as we navigate through this pandemic.

If you should have any questions or concerns, please email your principal at their work email address or by calling the school at 318-377-2766.

Sincerely,

Johnny R. Rowland, Jr., Superintendent
